Soi Dog Movie Fundraiser - February 5th 2010
On Friday night 5th February, PAAW was proud to hold a fundraiser for the Soi Dog Foundation at Cinema Classic in Elsternwick, Melbourne. The night began with the PAAW volunteers setting up kindly assisted by Cinema Classic who were so helpful in the lead up to the event and helping out on the night. Then as people began arriving, a vegan feast was presented that was kindly donated and supplied by Lefki Pavlidis and the Vegfund. The food was cooked and served by a fantastic and enthusiastic band of volunteers and devoured by a hungry group of attendees. People were also able to mingle and browse the auction and raffle items on display. A big thank you to Ryan Rudge from Pets At Home who so generously donated all the pet goodies that were raffle prizes. And also some people were lucky enough to get their faces on film for what will be a TV special broadcast by Supreme Master TV. Thank you to Penny Basset-Scarfe for organising that. The documentary started at 7pm and by all reports was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was a very professionally put together piece of work and gave a great insight into the work that Soi Dog does in Phuket. Thanks to Ella Todd & Environment Films for producing a wonderful documentary. Following on from that, John & Gill Dalley (founders of Soi Dog) got up to give a brief talk and answer some questions from the audience. Unfortunately, we ran out of time after several questions but thankfully people were able to speak to John & Gill after the event as well. The fun started soon after with the wonderful Brian Hurley leading the auction and raffle draw. PAAW would like to thank Brian for entertaining the audience and ensuring that the auction and raffle draw were held in a professional and efficient and FUN manner. Lastly, a massive thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came along on the night to support a very worthy cause. And an extra thank you and congratulations to the extremely generous people who bid on the auction items. To see photos of the night click here.
